With a passion for outreach, indigenous clergy, prayer cell groups, increased pastoral and lay leadership opportunities and the involvement of women in ministry, Hispanic churches are having incredible growth in the United States and the political and social impact is sizable. In a April 2007 survey by the Pew Hispanic Center, two-thirds of Hispanics say their religious beliefs are an important influence on their political thinking. More than half say churches and other houses of worship should address the social and political questions of the day. With issues such as immigration and health care taking center stage in the national debate; churches are mobilizing to address the needs of their congregations often made up of documented and undocumented parishioners.

While government and political parties have historically understood the importance of reaching out to the faith-based community; corporations, educational institution and other non-profit organizations are now seeing the importance of engaging this demographic.
